Basquiat: The Unknown Notebooks

On April 3rd, the Brooklyn Museum opened its newest exhibition featuring Brooklyn-born artist Jean-Michael Basquiat. The exhibition, called Basquiat: The Unknown Notebooks, provides the visitor a rare, yet vital, glimpse into the artist’s mind.

Throughout the exhibition, pages from Basquiat’s notebooks have been preserved and presented in glass cases. Each page is as different as much of Basquiat’s more known works of art. They demonstrate his interests in a wide array of topics and crafts. Overall, it’s the juxtaposition between his painted work and the journal pages that makes the exhibition interesting.

The exhibition is scheduled to close August, 23, 2015 so make time to go and see for yourself. Let me know your thoughts in the comments below.
